At Galley Common Infant School, we believe that children learn best when they feel happy, healthy, safe and supported. Promoting positive wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, helping our children to develop confidence, resilience and the skills they need to thrive both now and in the future.
Our approach to wellbeing reflects the values and priorities of Warwickshire County Council and supports the statutory expectations placed upon schools to promote children's personal development, mental health, relationships, safety and wellbeing. We recognise that emotional wellbeing is just as important as physical health and plays a vital role in children's learning and development.
Through our curriculum, nurture provision and wider school experiences, we help children to understand and manage their emotions, build positive relationships, develop self-esteem and stay safe in an ever-changing world. We work closely with families and external agencies to ensure that children receive the support they need at the right time.
This section brings together information about the key aspects of wellbeing at our school, including:
Technology plays an important role in children's lives, and we are committed to teaching pupils how to use it safely, responsibly and respectfully. Through our curriculum and regular awareness activities, children learn about online safety, digital wellbeing and how to seek help if they have concerns.
We are dedicated to promoting positive mental health for all members of our school community. We help children develop emotional literacy, resilience and coping strategies, while providing support and early intervention where needed. Our aim is to create an environment where children feel listened to, understood and valued.
Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education curriculum, including statutory Relationships Education, helps children develop the knowledge, skills and values needed to lead safe, healthy and happy lives. Through age-appropriate learning, children explore friendships, families, feelings, wellbeing, diversity, respect and personal safety.
We use the Thrive Approach to support children's social and emotional development. Thrive helps us to understand children's needs, build positive relationships and provide targeted strategies that enable every child to feel secure, confident and ready to learn.
At Galley Common Infant School, we are committed to nurturing the whole child. By working together with families and the wider community, we strive to ensure that every child feels safe, respected, connected and able to flourish.
Together, we help our children build the confidence, resilience and wellbeing they need to succeed in school and beyond. 🌟
