  • Admissions

Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision, and we are delighted that you are considering Galley Common Infant School. We are proud to offer a welcoming, nurturing environment where children are encouraged to learn, grow and thrive from the very start of their educational journey.

Admissions to our school are coordinated by Warwickshire County Council, which manages applications for Reception places and in-year admissions across the county.

    Applying for a School Place

Applications for children starting school in Reception should be made online through the Warwickshire County Council admissions portal. Parents and carers can find information about admissions, key dates and the online application process on the council's website:

We strongly encourage parents to submit their application before the published deadline to ensure it can be considered as part of the main admissions round.

    How School Places Are Allocated

Where there are more applications than places available, school places are allocated using the published oversubscription criteria. These criteria are determined by the school's admission arrangements and give priority to children in specific categories. These typically include:

    • Children in care and previously looked-after children.
    • Children with exceptional medical or social reasons.
    • Children living within the school's priority area.
    • Children who have a sibling already attending the school at the time of admission.
    • Children living closest to the school.

Parents should refer to the current admissions arrangements published by Warwickshire County Council for full details of the criteria and how places are allocated.

    In-Year Admissions

Applications for places outside the normal Reception admission round, such as when moving house or transferring schools, are known as in-year admissions. These applications are also coordinated through Warwickshire County Council.

    Appeals

If your child is not offered a place at your preferred school, you have the right to appeal the decision through the independent appeals process. Information about school admission appeals can be found on the Warwickshire County Council website.
