Easter fun day

Class 3 egg and spoon race winner!

We had a great day, celebrating Easter. We enjoyed a trip to the church parading our Easter Bonnets. We then enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, followed by egg and spoon races. In the afternoon, we decorated our own Easter eggs and made Easter cards.

A super day indeed!

Science - Investigating properties of materials

This week in Science we have been investigating which materials are waterproof and, more importantly, which materials we would like our umbrella to be made of.  The children took part in a practical experiment by pouring water on different materials and seeing which of these then kept the doll, who was underneath, dry.  Have a look at the photos to see our scientists in action.

February 2024 - A visit to a Planetarium

The children had an exciting opportunity of a visit to a Planetarium where they learnt about the Planets, the Solar System and the Constellation of Stars.  This supported our History learning about the first Moon landing in 1969.

The children had lots of fun and learnt lots of interesting facts.

October 2023 -  A visit from Warwickshire Fire Service

Our Year 1 children received a visit from the Warwickshire Fire Service and were taught about fire safety, how to stay safe in the event of a fire, all about those important Home Smoke Detectors and how to STOP, DROP and ROLL - which the children were then able to practise.  A fun part of the event was when our teachers dressed up in the clothes of the Fire personnel.  The Warwickshire Fire Service want us to remind everyone that it is their aim for every house in Warwickshire to be fitted with Smoke Detector Alarms and if you need support with this, then please contact the Warwickshire Fire Service direct.  The children also received a fun activity pack to take home with them, to remind them of their learning.

Galley Common Infant School would like to express their sincere thanks to the Fire Service for visiting us to teach us all about staying safe.

October 2023 - Design and Technology; smoothie making, tasting and evaluating

We have recently been designing, creating and tasting class smoothies along with then comparing them to shop-bought smoothies.  The children enjoyed the opportunity to taste, compare and record their findings.
