Our Christmas this year started with our annual Christmas Bake Off. Children from each year group worked with their parents making cakes to share at home and also to sell at the Christmas Fayre. Our Teaching Assistant, Mrs Downing, instructed them in making some delicious Christmas shortbread biscuits, snowman pies, snowflake cookies and mincemeat muffins. Some brilliant cooking skills - well done to you all.
Christmas would not be the same without the school nativity! Our children did us proud this year with three lovely performances - Year two performed 'A Tale of Two Birthdays', Year 1 performed 'Donkey for Sale' and our Reception children performed 'A Miracle in Town'. A big 'WELL DONE' to all our budding actors and actresses and also a big thank you to our parents for the beautiful costumes sent in.
Our Reception children also performed their nativity to the grandparents and visitors from the village. The Y1 and Y2 children sang Christmas carols for them as well.
During this assembly the winners of the Christmas colouring competition were picked and as you can see below, we had a hard job to pick winners this time - such great work from everyone.
We also held a 'helpers' assembly, when everyone who helps in school was invited. The Y2 children painted some beautiful Christmas baubles to give out as a small token of our appreciation. Thank you to all our helpers!
On Thursday we had our Christmas buffet lunch, followed by class parties - with everyone wearing a Christmas jumper! We were even lucky enough to have Santa drop in to deliver some presents - and we actually managed to get some photographs of him!
Our final assembly was held at St Peter's Church - it is always a very special assembly for us, as it is so lovely to see so many family members attend. It was extra special this year as Miss Cain was getting married during the Christmas holiday so we held a 'surprise' wedding for her during the assembly - it was lovely for all the children to see her dressed up in a wedding gown. Congratulations to Miss Cain.
We would also like to thank Rev. Barnes for a lovely Christmas service.
